It’s summer vacation for Issei and the hot devil girls he lusts for. With the Khaos Brigade on the hunt, they need to spend their time training (in between naughty delights at the hot springs). To do so, Rias brings them from our world to the devil’s world, crossing over to say at her parent’s mansion where Issei meets Rias’s mom.

She’s a delicious MILF that is very eager for Issei to adapt to the more refined lifestyle of the upper class. She is preparing him though he has no idea why.

Meanwhile, their training commences. A tournament has been organized to allow the various devil houses to compete against each other to hone their skills. Issei and his allies are each given a training regimen, but the small yet tough Koneko is struggling.

She’s pushing herself too hard. Issei will have to learn her dark secret to help!

This is a decent setup arc. It’s putting the pieces in place for the next action scene while at the same time giving us more fan service. The competition for Issei’s heart is heating up, with Akane moving in with. It looks pretty clear, though, that he’s being groomed to be Rias’s consort when she takes over her family in a few years, with Asia perhaps as his concubine. The other girls will have to do their best to get involved with the harem.

The plot delves into Koneko’s past at the end. We’ll have to see how that will shape up, and Gaspard continues to provide hilarity with his box. All in all, it leaves you eager for the next volume. Good thing it’s sitting on my bookshelf!

I give ‘High School DxD 9’ 4.5 of 5 hot springs delights! At $6.99, this supernatural manga is one hot read!
