Review of ‘Balance in Chaos’?
by Lilith K. Duat and Maria DeLynn
reviewed by Reed James
War has descended to Egypt. Alexander the Great has brought his Greeks to conquer the mystical lands. Chaos rains on the battlefield, and Anup (better known as Anubis) is overwhelmed by the number of souls flooding into his domain. Wanting to discover the source, he finds the Greek goddess Discordia spreading chaos and causing death.
What starts as a verbal argument turns sexual as the sensual Discordia awakens unfelt desires in Anup. Discordia is changed by Anup, a love growing between them. But when the Egyptian god of chaos, Seth, discovers their affair, he exposes their illicit congress to the Greek gods.
Zeus is not pleased, and tragedy follows.
Balance in Chaos is a story of love, redemption, grief, death, suffering, and hope all mixed together in the story of Discordia and Anup. This short novella took me on a whirlwind of emotions from the tenderness of Anup’s healing to the final moments the story.
Lilith and Maria have penned a story that while dealing with gods and mythology (and quite cleverly the way the weave different tales) but yet feels so real.
