This is a tale of two married people, former lovers, that have a chance meeting and sparks up all their old desires. And they have to act them out. There’s very little story. You do not know the name of either the man or the woman, you only know their both married and can’t get the other out of their mind.

So they meet at the woman’s house and fuck in her husband’s chair. The sex is hot, and Julian is constantly reinforcing the cheating aspect. ‘…wearing the suit my wife helped picked out for me. You’re wearing the dress you bought to show off to your husband.’ So if you’re into cheating erotica, then he’s hitting all the right buttons.

The sex is hot and heavy, and well described. They feel like real people. But the problem is the formatting. Once the sex starts, it’s all these huge, block paragraphs with dialog mixed in. This is Julian’s first release, and I know that Strangers on a Train, his latter release, doesn’t have this problem, so if you can get past the massive paragraphs, there is a hot, steamy, cheating affair to be read.

Alli is a quiet, almost fragile, author suffering from blackouts and a trauma from her childhood that makes it hard for her to relate to people, including her boyfriend. On the day her boyfriend’s accidental death, she meets Harvey, a police detective that seems to understand just what she is—a hybrid.

Alli, like Harvey, was attacked by a vampire as a child, but not turned, leaving her in a quasi-state with some of the vampires gifts, and Alli is quickly fearing just what she’s doing during her blackouts—feeding on people. As she deals with the death of her boyfriend and the exploration of her powers, she finds a new life and someone who understands everything she is experiencing, like seeing the dead.

Drawn by their similar abilities, Alli and Harvey fall in love as she comes out of her shell, supported by the patient Harvey. As a serial killer strikes their town in England, Harvey enlists Alli’s unique gifts to help the police track down the monster killing and dismembering children and their families. And looming over Alli’s newfound life is the dread that she’ll learn just what she does during her blackouts and it will take away her newfound happiness.

Split Decision is a slow burn. It spends a lot of time introducing you to the world, maybe a little too much time, before it really gets into the meat of the story, but the characters of Alli and Harvey are so sweet together that it pulls you through the setup. The writings great, though it is quite heavy on the British slang, so be prepared to Google. I had never heard the term ‘off license’ before and was utterly baffled by the sentence until a looked it up. Since the story is told in first person from almost entirely by Alli, that only helps to get into the character’s head.

Now for the sex. It’s hot, graphic, S&M sex. Alli and Harvey aren’t fully human, and they make full use of that in the kinky sex that get into. Rubber play, body modifications, extended bondage sessions, and lots of vibrators, dildos, and butt plugs. Alli and Harvey take a very loving delight in taking each other to the edge of sex.

I’m looking forward to where the Hybrids series is going next. I give ‘Split Decisions’ 4.5 of 5 stars! At $0.99, for a 362 page novel, you are getting a bargain!

It also sets up some of the latter stories, introducing characters that will have their own confessions, weaving together a greater narrative and leaving you wondering what was the scandal that resulted in Mindy and her fellow cheerleaders writing their confessions and how does it tie in with the events of Penalties in the Locker Room. I’m curious to find out.

Eric, a traveling tractor salesman, is riding on a train when the beautiful Anwen takes the seat beside him. Some harmless flirting takes an interesting turn when Anwen admits she’s reading erotica written by Gavin Goodhand, an Indie author just starting out. Eric is flabbergasted; Gavin Goodhand is his pen name. Eric is thrilled to meet a fan, and Anwen is stunned to meet the author that’s been making her wet all week with his writing.

When Anwen asks if Eric’s anything like his Alpha Male protagonist, Eric reaches into himself and becomes his character. What follows is a hot, steamy sex scene as Eric and Anwen as both live out their erotica fantasies and try to be the dominant one. Together they find a better way to pass a long train ride.

Erotica, more than any other genre, really shows you the fantasies of someone. And I have to admit, the fantasy of meeting a fan, and a hot one at that, has crossed my mind before, and I would hope it played out in such a sexy way as Julian’s story does. There were more than a few missing commas in his prose, but his characters and their motivations seemed quite believable and the sex scene was both long and hot.

Juan is in need of a money, and takes a job as a pool cleaner at rich house. He walks up to the door, but know one answers. Wondering what’s going on, he walks around the house and peers into a open window and catches the very beautiful Beverly showering. Juan is captivated, and can’t look away, and then her husband Lester catches him and Juan is in for the shock of his life.

What follows is a hot, dirty wife watching fun as Carlos learns just why he was hired, and it wasn’t to clean the pool! Velvet writes a hot, menage sex scene. I just wished she didn’t rush the setup so much. Juan barely peeps on her at all before she get’s caught, and considering that’s the title, I would have liked a little bit more on the voyeuristic side. Don’t get me wrong, once the action started, it was hot and heavy and get’s you going!

Her writing style is good, though why Juan needs a fake name for the story (he’s named Juan Ward, but since he’s working under the table he decides to use the name Juan Carlos) is beyond me. I hope this will matter in later sequels, otherwise it seemed a little unnecessary. But it didn’t take away from the eroticism or my enjoyment of the story!
